You in Fortnite | Theories

After watching a video by TheLlamaSir on YouTube about the new season of Fortnite dealing with parallel universes, I started forming my own theories about what could happen. (Probably a lot of wishful thinking on my part.)

In the video it mentions how you can see the vault IRL by using Google Earth. It also mentions the time that Epic Games took objects out of the game and into the real world. So, my idea isn’t that far fetched.

My idea is that Epic Games will make it so the player can be added into Fortnite

We’ve seen them do something similar with the TikTok emote contest. The winners of the contest got their dance/emote added to the game. Epic Games has also added real life people like Marshmello and Ninja.

I could see them adding a character creator. I would imagine they would charge to use it or have the basic character forms for free then charge for clothes, pickaxes, and so on. I’d love it if you could select your character’s hair, skin, clothes, and so on.

Another possible, though less likely, theory/idea is that Epic Games promotes some new character skins by having people show up as the characters IRL. Who wouldn’t want to see a real life Fortnite battle? And who wouldn’t want to see an IRL Peely?

What are your theories about the Chapter 2 Season 2? Let’s talk in the comments.

Until the next wormhole…thanks for reading.

With everyone doing those “best of the year” blogs, vlogs, tweets, and so on, I figured I might as well do a post about some of the best things I came across in Fortnite. It’s not going to be long since I’ve only been playing it for like four months.

Note: These are not in order of importance or any such thing.

I might as well start with Winterfest. As I said, this is the first Winterfest (Fourteen Days of Fortnite) I’ve dealt with, but from what I’ve heard from others, it has been a good event. First, Epic Games gave everyone two free skins–according to others, they’ve never done that.

Then there was the introduction to dynamic weather. Every ten minutes or so, a snowstorm hits the map; and depending on the strength, it can make it impossible to see anything. I liked this addition and hope they’ll do more weather events; it made the game even more suspenseful.

The last part of Winterfest I wanted to mention was the XP fireplace. In the Winterfest lodge you can stand by the fire and gain random bits of XP. You can get 10, 20, or 1,000. I’ve heard rumors of 5,000. It’s also nice to just sit back, relax, drink some hot chocolate, and watch the fire.

The next item on the list is the Star Wars event. It was awesome to see a special scene from The Rise of Skywalker. The Whisper glider is also nice.

Of course, I have to mention the lightsabers. It is so fun grabbing a lightsaber and chasing down a foe. I like that you can block with it (kind of wish this was a standard feature–I suppose building the walls is a way of blocking).

I like how the lightsabers are powerful but not OP. You can’t use them in the water–found that out the hard way–and while they are cool to look at in the night/snowstorm, it also announces your location to everyone. Also, if people know you have a lightsaber, they’ll come after you in force trying to take it away. Finally, you have to get in close. It is not a range weapon, which can be difficult and dangerous at times.

But on the plus side, you can do an awesome combat/dodge roll. And did I mention the ability to block?

Next on the list deals with two challenges. One was to make it into the top 5 for Squads while the other was make it into the top 10 for Solo–not once, but three times for each mode. I figured that would never happen. But, I managed to; and it was stressful. The whole time I just knew someone was going to eliminate me when I was at 11.

I managed to do it by staying out of the named landmarks and away from places used in challenges; I avoided people as much as I could. I also stuck as close to the edge of the storm as I could–people tend to stay away from it. I also made use of the hiding spots, like the porta potty. My controller was almost completely covered in sweat by the time I was done.

Some of the best moments, however, were not part of a challenge or event. At one point, I lingered outside the safety circle too long and got caught in the storm. I had to run a good portion of the map in the storm, but I managed to escape with one point of health remaining thanks to having tons of bandages.

Another time, I learned that you can get umbrella gliders. I kept trying to get one for months and finally did. Why would I care? Simple. So, I could say, “I’m Mary Poppins, yo!” Ah, it’s the simple things in life.

Do you have any favorite moments from 2019? It doesn’t have to be gaming related. Let me know in the comments below.

Until the next wormhole…thanks for reading and have a great year.

Fortnite and Dora | Random Thoughts

The following are my opinion and do not reflect the opinion of any organization or person. May contain spoilers!

A recent Fortnite news video by TheLlamaSir, talked about the upcoming events Epic Games will be adding to Fortnite. Unfortunately, I missed the fishing event. But, the interesting part (aside from the new skins) was the message “winter is near” from Epic Games. This, of course, made me think of the “winter is coming” catchphrase and memes from the Game of Thrones series. I was wondering if this was some kind of hint from Epic Games that there would be a GOT crossover. Who wouldn’t want a white walker skin or a direwolf back bling?

But then I realized how unlikely this was. Normally, when Fortnite does a crossover it is with an event that is happening at that time. They didn’t have the John Wick crossover five weeks after the movie came out. A crossover could be possible if the new GOT series is starting soon. Hmmm…

Over the weekend, I watched the Dora and the Lost City of Gold movie thanks to credits from Vudu for watching their free videos (not sponsored, just an FYI that Vudu will do promotions where if you watch a certain selection of movies you can get credits to use on rentals or purchases). I was moderately surprised to learn it wasn’t all that bad. I never watched Dora the Explorer because I was too old for it, but I knew enough from advertisements and listening to people who had kids that watched it.

I liked that they seemed to realize the people who grew up watching Dora were now, well, grown up. The audience now wanted more than, “Can you find the red barn?” They were teens and watched to see action and adventure, but they still wanted some bits of nostalgia. The crew did an excellent job of walking that line between updating the character for the older audience while not trampling it.

Hope you enjoyed this small chat.

Until the next wormhole…thanks for reading.

Yolocraft, Fortnite, and More | Rapid Reviews (Spoilers)

The following are my opinion and do not reflect the opinion of any organization or person. May contain spoilers!

Yolocraft Season 8 (Blitzwinger & Unlimited Magic, YouTube): With another death the eighth season of Yolocraft comes to a close. *sob* It was an interesting one with unexplained deaths and disappearing horses. It was also odd to actually know more about the new Minecraft features than they did; usually it was them telling me. But, as always, the team of Blitzwinger and Unlimited Magic provided video after video of entertainment. There was humor and there was suspense. Each time they went into the Nether was nerve wrecking. And there were episodes I wished they would have edited; for instance, watching them ride their horses for about 30 minutes while they looked for the Pillager Outpost. Probably the best part of the series was the thousands of chickens they had.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 (Epic Games, PlayStation 4, Xbox, and more): Before you get too excited, I know that season 1 isn’t over–I also know that apparently it’s been extended to February–this is just a little recap/mid-review. The first chapter of Fortnite I didn’t play much. It was mostly the crossover events. First, I couldn’t afford any skins. Second, I’m bad at shooter games. Third, I felt like I didn’t get anywhere. It seemed like I never leveled up or progressed and on top of that I couldn’t make it passed the nineties. So, I am enjoying the new leveling system where it tells you in big letters, “Hey! You leveled up!” I also like how you can see your progress in the Battle Pass section. I don’t know how much of the menus they fixed, but it seems easier to find things like missions. I really enjoy the extra XP time during the weekends. When I first saw how far I’d have to go to get any of the Battle Pass skins, I thought, “That’s never going to happen,” then one day I was at level 60. I don’t know if they reworked their matchups but I seemed to actually survive for longer periods and actually get eliminations. Before, it was just me running away and dying…a lot. I’m also looking forward to this villain team/EGO thing they are hinting at.

Photographing the Dead by Dean Koontz (Nameless series, #2): I have to agree with some of the reviews I’ve seen that the second book wasn’t as good as the first, but that doesn’t make it bad. I still found it to be thrilling and hard to put it down. I liked how Koontz kept shifting to the two women hiking. You knew that they were going to meet the killer at some point, but would they survive? I kind of felt like I was always racing towards some unavoidable fate. Koontz’s villain was creepy as always; he really knows how to make a truly evil antagonist. You feel no pity for the man. I enjoy how Koontz tells the reader that sometimes the person is just evil–that they do something just because they can or they think they are better than everyone else. In the first book, I didn’t feel that there was much danger for Nameless–I kind of felt the same in this one–but I was worried for the hikers. Now that I think about it, maybe that’s the point: feel for the victims. After Nameless sees those “ghosts” at the end, I began to wonder if Nameless isn’t so “nice.” Maybe he murdered someone and we shouldn’t feel sympathy or worry about him.

Do you have any shows, books, movies, etc you’d like to see a review on? Tell me in the comments.
