The Spider-Queen by Austin McConnell and Elizabeth McIvor tells the tale of Shannon Kane’s transformation from lab assistant to superhero.

The first chapter was a little long, but full of important details. I was able to pick up on Shannon’s character quickly. Even though we meet Shannon’s husband for a short time, I felt like I knew who he was.

The pace and wording of the story made me feel like I was reading a story from the 1940s or 50s. I felt like I was reading a Golden Age comic. The original Spider-Queen was a comic book series from the early days of comic books that fell into public domain.

The first chapter did a great job of pulling me in. I’m looking forward to reading more.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Until the next wormhole…thanks for reading.
