I recently found an older show, probably canceled by now, called The Stanley Dynamic through the Keep It Weird! YouTube channel. It is about Luke; his twin brother, Larry; and the rest of the Stanleys as they deal with typical daily stuff like Family Game Night or the first day of high school. Of course, the normal stuff gets exaggerated to comic proportions.

Oh yeah, and Luke is a cartoon character in a live-action world.

The series is definitely targeted to younger audiences with its cartoon comedy and silly situations.

I was impressed at how well Cartoon Luke blended with the live-action world. The actors acted like he was really there. Although, there were times when you could tell they were looking at nothing; their eyes kind of stared off into space as they tried to make eye contact with a cartoon.

I also like that they gave Luke cartoon abilities and personality, which harms him more than helps. His cartoon powers get him into sticky situations, like when he got glued to a painting. He also makes puns and gets distracted just like a comedy toon would.

The jokes and over-the-top situations, and acting sometimes, can get a little annoying, especially if you’re older. You might need to take a break now and then. But the nice thing is that those moments where it wears thin is few and far. Some similar shows never seem to break from the over-silliness.

The Stanley Dynamic is a great show to watch with family. It has some life lessons to it, but it is subtle and not preachy.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Until the next wormhole…thanks for reading!
