Tokyo Override focuses on Kai, a hacker living in a digitally “perfect” Tokyo. One day, after getting caught (and escaping from) the police, she runs into a group of delivery people on their way to deliver a tagless boy to where he can be safe. With nowhere else to go, Kai joins the group as they run various deliveries, such as getting a heart transplant to the hospital, throughout Tokyo while avoiding the police.
The art of the series is great. It looks like a mixture of digital and hand drawn. At the moment, the characters seem one dimensional, like happy-go-lucky/risk-taking Hugo, but you also quickly see extra layers. For instance, why is Hugo investigating the death of the tagless boy from the first episode.

The world seems lived in with believable rules. The cast and crew did an excellent job of explaining the world without dumping everything on the audience. There is an opening monologue that tells you a bit of the world, but it is short and doesn’t slow the show. The same can be said of the monologue and the close of each episode.
So far, I am enjoying the twists, action, suspense, and mystery. The show doesn’t seem to be overly graphic or scary. You do see Kai bleed a little after the NARC officer known as Lizard hits her. And you do see the dead boy’s body.
I give the episodes 1-3 a 4/5.
Until the next wormhole…thanks for reading!
