True Grit Review – A Classic Western That Didn’t Hit the Mark via Already Overbooked

I saw the recent True Grit movie; I have to say that it wasn’t what I expected. I have to agree with the expectations vs reality idea. Everyone said how great it was and I was like, “Meh.” I think if I went in blind I might have enjoyed it a little bit more. But to be fair, I’m not much for Westerns to begin with.

I like that Josh tells us how he feels about the book. If he likes it, he likes it; if he doesn’t, he doesn’t. He doesn’t seem to “soften” things because his opinion might be an unpopular one. I also like how he balances the good and bad. Even if he doesn’t like a book, he still tells what was good about it.
