The Quest for Tom Sawyer’s Gold has three teens and a mom looking for the treasure of the real life Tom Sawyer.
Agatha used to be an adventurer until she had a kid. After that she settled down and became an overprotective mother and teacher. Her son, Anthony, grows tired of being called a mama’s boy and teacher’s pet (his mom is his teacher) and decides to find Tom Sawyer’s treasure. He teams up with his friends and heads out. His plans quickly fall apart when they are caught and the police call his mom.
The movie is fairly typical for all ages family movie: semi-laid back adventure, thrills but nothing serious, an over-the-top villain, and life lessons galore.
Writing Update
I finished typing three chapters in my short story collection. I also finished three chapters in my Leap Year book. Each had about 3k words.
It is a fun movie to watch, especially as part of a family night. It might wear thin with some older teens. The plot isn’t the greatest. Anthony seems to be one of the main characters—he’s the one teased, and he starts the quest—but it seems like he’s just there. His friends are the ones who do a lot of the clue solving; it is their talents that get them out of some jams. Agatha is also the one that seems to grow as a character. Anthony does make the plan to get the map from the bad guys.
3/5
A fun movie to watch once, but I probably won’t watch it again, unless I forget that I saw it. It is definitely geared more for kids and younger teens.
Until the next wormhole…thanks for reading!
