Family Camp is your typical workaholic father (Tommy) and mother (Grace) who wants the family to spend time together type of story. The father is trying to get a promotion at work while the mother is trying to keep her marriage and family together. The answer, of course, is a family trip…that goes wrong. The final payment isn’t made so the family has to share a yurt with another family. As expected, Tommy sees the father of the other family (Eddie) as a nuisance. And as Tommy butts heads with Eddie, comedy follows.
However, while the movie is faith-based, it isn’t your typical faith movie. Sure, they do have a lot of “teaching moments,” like Tommy learning to put his family first or Grace praying for help, but the characters aren’t what you expect. Eddie’s need to be perfect creates tension in his family. The director of the camp, Joel, hears someone screaming while all the fathers are on a hike and largely ignores it. They families get really competitive. At one point, Joel says to Grace that God knows everything, and Grace responds, “When is He going to tell us?” So, you see moments where “too much” faith can be just as bad as “too little.”
One of the recent collaborations in Fortnite is Halo, specifically the UNSC Spartan skin. The skin isn’t too bad. It looks like something out of Halo, and the red or blue variants add to the hype. Then there’s the energy sword pickaxe. It looks and works like the one in the Halo games. The skin appears to work well within the Fortnite game; there isn’t a problem with the aim-down-sights; it isn’t as easy of a target as some skins, but it is still a bright color. It’s a great addition to the battle pass.
The fact the skin is free helps.
The acting wasn’t the greatest, but not the worst either. It was an enjoyable movie. The audio and lighting was better than most “indie” or “B” movies. It was a comedy after all.
I do have to wonder why Eddie stole honey from the bees if he knew he was allergic to them. Also, the beaver was adorable.
The movie made the family games seem like a more important plot point only to have it overshadowed by the actual main event—what happened on the hike.
3.8/5
Fun movie to watch when there’s nothing else on or when you need a pick-me-up. Decent family movie. Worth it if you can stream it for “free.”
Until the next wormhole…thanks for reading!

The teen seemed stunned at first but continued. “The vid also showed him eating some leftover chicken nuggets from the mini fridge. I checked mine. The nuggets were gone.”
Jason coughed and shifted uncomfortably as Chip continued to stare at him.
“Uh,” said Jason, wanting the silence to end, “do you think he’s breaking in my house and recording videos? I know it sounds—”
Charlie returned. “OK, Bro, looks like we can—” Charlie stopped short when he saw Chip and Jason.
Chip turned to Charlie. “Get my bus pass; I’ve got a mystery to solve.”
