The strange figure laying on the wet ground slowly stirred to life. He wore a long orange and blue tunic that reached to his knees. Under the tunic were ripped blue pants with orange trim. One pants’ leg was nearly missing and looked like he was trying to make shorts but only made it halfway. The tunic was also damaged in places. He wore no footwear.

He rose, somewhat successfully, to his feet. He made it to a nearby body of water. He groaned as he ran his hands across his face.

He stopped suddenly.

Something felt off.

He examined himself in the water. He gasped and withdrew. His hands rushed to his face. He patted his head. The water had not lied.

He had no face!

He lowered his hands and saw that his skin glowed with blue and white energy. Electricity ran along his exposed arms, leg, and feet.

He checked the water again.

What should have been his face was shrouded in the strange energy. It swirled around like a storm inside a crystal ball.

He tried to picture his face, but nothing came to him.

His mouth dropped, if he had one.

He couldn’t remember what he looked like or what his name was.

After a moment of queasiness, he steadied himself. He was sure if he made it to civilization he’d find someone to help him. He took a tentative step. He didn’t fall, so that was good. He took another. No issues with this one either. His confidence now complete, he took another and another step towards Megaton City.
