Marvel’s After-School Heroes: Miles Morales Untangles a Web by Terrance Crawford and illustrated by Dave Bardin pits Miles, aka Spider-Man, and Shuri against a hacker. When computer files suddenly go missing around the Stark Center, Shuri and Miles must figure out who the hacker is and what they want.
The story is excellent for young and middle school readers. The artwork by Bardin is great, looks like something out of a Marvel comic. The story plot isn’t overly complicated and is resolved quickly. The book is perfect for taking a break while studying or doing homework. It also works as something to do on long car rides.
The book doesn’t have a lot of violence. Spider-Man is mostly seen dodging attacks or using his webs. Shuri and Miles also use their brains to solve their problems offering a good lesson for younger readers.
The book’s price did seem a little high for a short read, but it does come with illustrations (and it is a brand name).
4.9/5
