I thought Jurassic World: Rebirth was one of the better Jurassic movies. It didn’t seem like it was dinosaur chase all the time. There were definitely a lot of chasing and screaming, but it wasn’t the core of the story.

I also figured that, in true movie fashion, when they got to the last dinosaur they needed for the medicine, the dart would malfunction and someone would have to sacrifice themselves. It didn’t happen. I also expected that when Zora missed on the first dinosaur, they would only have one dart left, and someone would do the classic “make the shot count,” line. That also didn’t happen. It was quite refreshing.

The characters, even the civilian family, seemed capable, which was believable. Zora and her crew were expert mercenaries, so they should know how to survive and fight. Rueben and his family knew sailing, and it sounded like this wasn’t their first adventure. It sounded like this was their first encounter with dinosaurs, but not the first time they needed to use survival skills. For instance, Teresa knew to inflate the raft on land even though everyone was telling her not to.

Xavier, just like Teresa said, took some time to like. At first, you are hoping he gets eaten first but you are soon sort of liking him. He was definitely the comedic relief with his bluntness like, “We’re gonna die here,” and his comedic timing, like saying to Rueben that he is right about Xavier…he is lazy.

However, when it got to the point when one of the flying experimental dinosaurs followed Rueben’s group into the tunnels, I started thinking, “OK, end the movie. The helicopter hasn’t shown up, and we haven’t seen the D-Rex yet. End the movie already.”
