To Be or Not | Hermitcraft Demise Game Discussion

I’ve been watching Hermitcraft on YouTube again. If you’ve been reading my posts for a while, you’re probably not surprised.

A little while ago, Grain started the Demise mini-game for the Hermitcraft server. In the game, everyone starts out alive; but if you die, you become a ghost (change your skin to monochrome colors). You then can “help” the others to “pass on.” The last one standing get’s the prize.

At the end of the video, Grain asked who the audience thought was going to die first. This got me wonder what I would do if I was playing the game. Personally, knowing that I would be the first to die and probably in some really embarrassing way, such as blowing myself up or from starving, I figured I would off myself right away. Sure, it would mean losing the game and the diamonds, but I would then be able to set traps and prank the others, which in my opinion is worth “losing.” *insert evil laugh here*

Now, if I could just figure out why it’s called “Hermitcraft.” I get the “craft” part because of Minecraft, but the players do not spend their time in seclusion; they team up many times for games or to build shops. Hmm…

Until the next wormhole…thanks for reading.

Every Block Challenge House

In a recent Minecraft video by Grian, he built a base out of every Minecraft creative block, but he could only use the block once. He later challenged the audience to do the same. I managed to do it, though it looked like something ready for Halloween. I then ran with the idea.

My plan was to use the normal construction blocks for the walls and roof: wood, concrete, etc. I then used the storage type blocks for the flooring: barrels, shulker boxes, etc. The normal crafting blocks, like the stonecutter tool and anvil, were just placed as normal–as was the bed. I used trapdoors for windows. And the house part of the base contained many doors.

Using the seeds was fairly easy, I just did a normal farm. I used fence posts and gates (and some trapdoors) to build a holding pen for the pigs, cows, and so on. I dug a hole for using the various fish buckets and created a “pond.” I used the lava bucket to make a place to throw away unneeded items. Using the other spawn eggs was easy; just spawn them in.

As for all the different colored beds, I made a Halloween campsite with the campfire. I then used a trick from SystemZee to place the bed a block down and cover it with carpet in order to make it look like a sleeping bag.

The hardest ones to use were the items you can’t place like armor. I used an armor stand for one set of armor, but the rest had to go into a chest since I could only use one armor stand. Most of the unplaceable items went into chests, except for one that could be used in an item frame.

You can see some of the photos I took while working on it over on Instagram.

Storycraft and Minecraft

I watch a lot of Minecraft videos on YouTube–probably too many–particularity Yolocraft from Blitzwinger and UnlimtedMagic and Hermitcraft with Grian.

I was thinking about these videos while mindlessly (and then frustratingly) trying to level up my Minecraft villagers. When I finally got them done, I realized I’d set up a pretty good Minecraft world. I jokingly said that I should do my own server and call it Storycraft. It could be a place for writers and filmmakers. I mean, many of the Minecraft stuff is “make your own story.” Adventure maps, role-playing, and so on. Grian on Sept. 22 finished a saga where he was a hippie trying to get his time machine back from Area 77.

But then I just laughed and realized I shouldn’t try to play Minecraft when I have only had five hours of sleep.

What kind of funny “craft” ideas do you have for Minecraft? Do you think any writers or filmmakers would even be interested in a Storycraft idea? Let’s discuss in the comments below.

Civil War Comes to Hermitcraft

After what seems like weeks of preparations, the cease-fire flag has finally come down, or more accurately been blown up.

What started out as a simple prank war between the G-Team and Team Star quickly escalated into a chaotic battle of fireballs and fire charges. Both sides seemed unprepared for the devastation. In what seemed like only a few minutes, the battlefield was in flames and both teams retreated. Fortunately, or unfortunately, both the water filter and turtle…I mean, G-Team and Team Star bases were virtually unharmed in the battle.

But, there were some sacrifices…namely the witch Gertrude (who was replaced by another Gertrude) and the hundreds of poor zombies G-Team released upon Team Star. Let’s have a moment of silence for the fallen code.

So far the only winner in this war has been cubfan135, who has been supplying both sides with arms (like TNT)–he’s been making a mint off the Hermitcraft Civil War. But, how long will it be before one side abducts Cubfan and forces him to make weapons for them. Cubfan will then have to become the Invincible Iron Fan.

As the dust settles, and the fires are put out, more questions arise. Which team will win? Who will strike first? Will Mumbo Jumbo be able to continue moling or will he get caught? When will this Civil War become part of the YouTube Cinematic Universe that Draw With Jazza began with his making YouTubers into superheroes (or villains) videos? How long before Thanos arrives and snaps half the Hermits into dust thus bringing us Hermitcraft: Endgame.

But possibly the most important question: how long can I keep a straight face while doing this post?

In all seriousness, the Hermitcraft “war” has been entertaining. If you wish to get in on the fun, here are a couple videos to get you started:
