Spooky Season Shoutout
Monsters vs. Aliens
The Haunting in Connecticut
Spidey 1-5
The Spidey comic series has Peter Parker (aka Spider-Man, aka Spidey) back as a teenager, apparently 15 years old.
The comics, thus far, are more silly, full of jokes, and less serious. It once again has Peter selling his Spidey pics for Daily Bugle bucks. The villains are more like their classic villainous selves, not much grey area here. Although, they do make you feel for Dr. Doom at the end of his appearance. Also, in many of the issues, Peter learns a lesson of sorts, like teamwork, never giving up, etc.
The comics even added the classic silliness that happens when it is pretty obvious that Peter is Spidey, but the person just goes, “Nah.”
Joe Rover books are available at Amazon and Kindle Unlimited.
The comic does briefly go over his origin at the beginning of each issue: spider bite; tries to make money using his powers; doesn’t stop a thief; Uncle Ben dies; great power and all that. The wording is switched up each time, and they do, at times, add in hints about that issue’s lesson.
The artwork is well done. Peter looks like a gangly, teenage nerd. The style seems suitable for the target audience.
It was nice to see classic Spider-Man: classic villains, classic humor, classic Spider-Man and Peter Parker problems.
4.9/5: It dropped a point because the series ended.
Until the next wormhole…thanks for reading!
