If you’re looking for the kinds of spooks that come from dinosaurs and time travel, we’ve got it in spades today.
I gotta be honest; when I saw the first movie trailer for The End of Oak Street, I though they’d made the Dino-Rift book series by Derek Borne into a movie. Both deal with time travel, wormholes, and dinosaurs.
In the Dino-Rift series, an evil corporation uses a rift in space-time to travel back to the age of dinosaurs (and also banish any witnesses into the past). In The End of Oak Street, wormholes (for some reason) appear and zap places back in time.
In both stories, we have average people trying not to get eaten or flattened by dinosaurs while trying to find their way back to the present.
So, I guess you could add the movie 65 to the list, but no time travel happened; it was just aliens. But it still has dinosaurs, which are always awesome! They are like the kings of spooky. Speaking of which…Godzilla. While maybe not straight up spooky, the idea of a giant lizard with atomic breath stomping through a city should at least get your blood pumping. (And there are so many Godzillas to choose from–not just in movie form either.)
Anyway, I’m getting distracted.
The End of Oak Street was fairly bland. There wasn’t much in character development, but it made up for it in sheer terror.
I haven’t read much of the Dino-Rift series, so I can’t give it a full review, but it is something worth checking out, especially if you like young adult sci-fi stories; and of course, dinosaurs and time travel.
Until the next wormhole…thanks for reading!
